(Every word I write here is the truth that I would swear to under oath in court and have documentation as proof.   All the court papers that I've posted here are public record).

 

I was a landlord for Layne H. Griggs who signed a year lease to rent one of my houses.  He was a complete nightmare tenant and my worst tenant ever.  I made the mistake of not doing a background check on him.  I now know of several other collection accounts against him and his credit is terrible.

 

he was constantly late on his rent for months and months, always making up crafty lies and false promises each time and stringing me on and on..."oh, i promise to pay next week....". a week goes by.. "Oh, i can't pay because <such and such> happened."... since i lived/worked out of town at the time, I didn't kick him out early... weeks turned into months. etc, etc, etc.  After his repeated lies, I finally kicked him out.

 

I filed a lawsuit against him for back rent.  He avoided the certified mailed court summons for half a year until I finally forced it on him by hiring a process server/constable.

 

After forcing him into court, I won a monetary judgement against him. He came to court completely unprepared and I easily could have won $2500 but just wanted to get out of there quickly.  He has made it clear to me that he will not pay it.

 

Personally, I don't care about the money (it is a very small amount to me) , but just want his name and reputation known around the community as a pathological lying, deadbeat tenant.

 

I'm very satisfied with an unpaid civil judgement against him that will haunt his background for 10+ years and hurt his already pathetically low credit score.

 

I will eventually get the money back via a collection agency and the monetary judgement is accumulating interest too.
